Extraction process

The “deg and still” distillation method, or “deg bhapka” method, is a traditional process for extracting essential oils, specifically used in Kannauj, India, to create perfumes and attars. It involves heating a mixture of flowers and water in a copper still (the “deg”), condensing the fragrant steam in a separate copper vessel (“bhapka”), and collecting the resulting liquid containing the essential oils.

The Process:

  • A fire is lit and the “deg” is heated, causing the water to boil and produce steam.
  • As the steam rises, it carries the volatile fragrant compounds (essential oils) from the flowers.
  • The steam is channeled through a bamboo pipe (chonga) to the “bhapka” where it condenses into a liquid.
  • This liquid, containing the essential oils, is then collected and used to create perfumes or attars.
  • The essential oil will settle at the top which will be then separated to yield this particular Attar or Floral oil blend.
  • The final essence is carefully collected and aged, sometimes for years, to deepen and enrich the fragrance.

Our Mogra Attar is Dermatologically tested and probably a great quality of Jasmine attar you ll ever try!

    Good morning Charu

I tried both of the products and my favorite is the Mogra one. The scent of fresh Mogra flowers in my hair reminds me of my wedding day – it’s truly delightful! I also used it on my little daughter and she loves it too.

As for the Sandalwood one, I noticed that the sandalwood notes become subtler once the fragrance settles in, and it leans more towards a lovely saffron scent. It reminds me of the Saffron Mist from Forest Essentials, which I also enjoy. Both scents exude warm, comforting notes that I absolutely love.

Sending you lots of love and warmth 🧡.

    Attar smells absolutely amazing.
I’m usually not a fan of jasmine, but after applying it and giving it some time, I was pleasantly surprised, now I can’t stop enjoying the beautiful aroma.
Even my husband and mother-in-law were really impressed!
